Francesco de’ Medici was the Grand Duke of Tuscany in 1574. He married the Venetian noblewoman Bianca Cappello, who was widely known to have been his lover for many years during his first marriage.
This beautiful apartment on the ground floor is an ample 54 square meters and offers access for the disabled. It has a spacious living area and dining room with a well-equipped kitchen, a king sized bed (or two single beds by request) and a comfortable Italian sofa bed (which can sleep 2). The large bathroom offers a folding shower seat option for disabled needs. The Francesco de’Medici apartment is perfect for single travelers, those who use wheelchairs or prefer to avoid stairs, and couples with young children. Upon request, we can gladly provide a baby bed for the apartment. As in all of Palazzo Belfiore’s apartments, the Francesco de’ Medici apartment has a fully equipped kitchenette with gas stovetop, microwave, oven, Italian coffee maker and other appliances are available upon request.
The space boasts a single large arched window that reaches from floor to ceiling and two smaller windows which let in abundant light to the spacious apartment. Originally, in the 14th century, this part of the Palazzo was a market space open to the street where the family in residence sold the goods they produced.
