Pope Leo X, born Giovanni di Lorenzo de’ Medici, was Pope from 1513 to his death in 1521. As the second son of Lorenzo il Magnifico and Clarice Orsini, he was elevated to the cardinalate in 1489 at the young age of 14 and became Pope in 1513, greatly enhancing the political power of the Medici, the most important Florentine family during the Renaissance period.
The apartment, on the second floor of Palazzo Belfiore, is extremely comfortable and furnished with beautiful mix of antique and modern pieces. Its large double bedroom is full of light and has a king size bed (or two single beds by request). This beautiful bright bedroom, which still boasts its original 16th century terracotta tile floor, is perfect for romantic couples on their honeymoon or celebrating an anniversary.
